Access is also included with any active Overflight subscription, meaning existing subscribers can simply log in using their current Overflight account credentials with no additional purchase required. This desktop release is the first major step in our long-term vision of creating the most advanced flight planning ecosystem in aviation, with iOS and Android applications planned for future release. Overflight offers both ready-to-use aviation content packages and a powerful web-based application for creating your own. The Overflight app allows pilots to map waypoints, routes, boundaries, search patterns, terrain hazards, and other features, as well as import and georeference PDFs or imagery, analyze terrain in 2D and 3D, view FAA chart layers, and evaluate predicted GNSS satellite geometry. Finished projects can be exported for use in popular Electronic Flight Bags and GPS platforms. ForeFlight-compatible content packs are provided as .ZIP files containing overlays, navigation data, and supported PDF imagery, while .KML files provide compatibility with Garmin Pilot and other mapping applications. Waypoint data can also be exported in .GPX format for compatible GPS units and flight-planning software. Pilots who prefer prebuilt resources can download Overflight’s curated regional packages, which organize FAA information, local visual references, routes, procedures, and other operational knowledge into easy-to-use digital overlays. Today, the Overflight app allows users to create detailed aviation overlays, map waypoints, routes, boundaries, search patterns, terrain hazards, and other mission-critical features, then export that information for use in compatible Electronic Flight Bags. Overflight also brings together FAA data, locally known visual references, and pilot-created knowledge that would otherwise take years of regional experience to acquire. Our goal is to give every pilot the tools to map what matters to their flight, whether they are navigating unfamiliar terrain, planning a specialized operation, or sharing local knowledge with others. Looking further ahead, we envision Overflight evolving into a fully integrated electronic flight system capable of visually projecting customized navigation information directly into the cockpit. Ultimately, we hope to provide the framework for the first widely adopted augmented reality flight bag, adding an entirely new dimension to how pilots see, understand, and navigate the world around them. That future is still some distance away, but the tools available today are the foundation being built toward it.
