A Simpler Path Forward: Introducing the New Overflight All-Access Package

At Overflight, our mission has always been clear: build practical, real-world tools that genuinely improve situational awareness for pilots operating in complex environments, especially here in Alaska. As our library of overlays has grown, we have listened closely to feedback from the aviation community and taken a hard look at how to make our content easier to access, easier to understand, and easier to keep up to date.

Today, we are excited to announce a major change to how Overflight overlays are packaged and delivered.

One Package. All Alaska. Built to Grow With You.

We are introducing a single Overflight package that includes all current Alaska overlays for an initial one-time price of $65. This package provides immediate access to our entire Alaska catalog, including:

  • Overflight Alaska core overlays

  • Alaska Parks overlays

  • Alaska Game Management Units (GMU) overlays

  • All current supporting datasets released to date

From that point forward, customers can retain access to all future updates, improvements, and newly released Alaska content with a $15 per month subscription. This subscription can be canceled at any time, and there is no obligation to continue if it no longer fits your needs.

Our goal with this structure is simple. Remove barriers to entry while ensuring the content stays current, accurate, and continuously improving.

Individual Alaska Overlays Still Available

In addition to the new all-access package, we have also made the decision to offer individual Overflight Alaska overlays for direct purchase and download through our store. This includes standalone access to products such as:

  • Alaska Parks overlays

  • Alaska Game Units overlays

This gives pilots the flexibility to try specific datasets or build toward the full package over time.

Why We Are Doing This

Overflight has a real and intentional goal. Get these overlays into the hands of as many pilots as possible.

We believe overlays represent the next natural evolution of preflight planning and in-cockpit situational awareness, particularly in Alaska where terrain, weather, airspace, and operational hazards rarely fit neatly into standardized charts. By lowering the cost of entry and simplifying our offerings, we hope to spread awareness of what is possible and help make overlays a standard part of preflight preparation within the Alaska flying community.

Where Overflight Is Headed Next

In the near future, Overflight will be releasing a series of applications designed to let users create and customize their own overlays on the fly.

This technology will allow pilots to retain every aspect of their planning while placing emphasis on the hazards that matter most for their specific mission. With customizable overlays, each user can truly maximize how they perceive their moving maps by tailoring information density, focus areas, and risk factors to match the flight at hand.

I have personally been using this approach for the last five years, and it has given me a much stronger mental framework in the cockpit. The result has been a meaningful increase in situational awareness, whether planning approaches into airports without published instrument procedures, operating in areas with limited or nonexistent weather reporting, creating custom runways on gravel bars known only to the pilot, or building airport environments for lodges or private sites known only within a specific company.

Built to Work With the Tools You Already Use

All Overflight content, along with all future user-generated overlays, is designed to work seamlessly with major platforms including ForeFlight, Garmin Pilot, and cockpit-mounted GPS units capable of storing waypoint datasets such as the Garmin Aera series.

Our focus is interoperability. If you already rely on a moving map, Overflight is designed to enhance your existing workflow.

Join Us Early

We are excited to share what we have built with as many pilots as possible, and we strongly recommend exploring what Overflight currently offers. Even today, the range of applications is broader than many pilots initially expect, and we are only just getting started.

If you have ever wished your moving map showed exactly what you needed for your kind of flying, Overflight was built for you.
